Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Natoya, or as my friends call me T-Cali (pronounced Tee-Ka-Lee) and I've wanted to start this blog for a while but never thought I would be able to keep up.
But here I am, finally taking the plunge, committing to five posts a week…ok let's be realistic here… after my full time job, then home job, then social job, then volunteer job…hmmm…let me rethink that statement.. Ahem …committing to writing a post when the urge to share is too profound (inner monologue: yup much better).
I am an island girl, daughter, wife, friend, Auntie, crafter, baker and just a fan of all things sweet.
I've loved to bake ever since I can remember and I have my beautiful Mummy and Mama (a.k.a Grandma for you non-jamaicans) to thank for that.
My mom is infamous for her traditional White Rum laced BLACK CAKE which is a staple at christmas time or any Jamaican wedding and my Mama is known for her out of this world puddings. You've never had a sweet potato or luscious bread pudding until you had one made by mama. The woman also had the patience of a Saint when it came to teaching me all about her secrets both in life and in baking. I am blessed 100 times over having these two strong, beautiful and loving women in my life.
At the urging of friends and family, all over the world, I've decided to create this site to keep them updated on my "goings-ons" but also to document my confectionary journey for posterity sake by sharing through pictures, recipes and more. Okay, okay I'll throw in the EPIC FAILS as well for a good laugh :O) and believe me I've got tons.
This site was also created in particularly for my Mummy and Daddy who ...AHEM...avoid social media like the plague and think having a Facebook account is the true demise of western civilization.
Inner Monologue: Progress, this only took two hours...
