Are your cakes made from scratch?
Yes. All custom creations are made fresh to order, from scratch using only the highest quality and ethically sourced ingredients.
Do you have a storefront location?
Sorry to disappoint, but we’re not that kind of bakery. We are licensed, insured, and approved by the City of Pasadena Health Department to operate our cottage food business. We are currently located in Pasadena, CA and service the greater San Gabriel Valley region. All orders are custom made to order. We do not keep cakes or any sweets in stock for daily pickup.
Is there a Minimum Order?
Yes. Our minimum order is $120
How much will my cake cost?
Each cake is quoted on an individual basis, as such, the final price will depend on the number of servings requested and the complexity of desired details.
Do you deliver?
Yes we do! Delivery is available at a fee of $30 for the first 10 miles from our studio location in Pasadena, CA. Additional miles will be billed at a per mile rate of $2.00/mile. Please note that if your event is during peak traffic hours or holidays, the fee is $2.75 per mile. Delivery fees will be included in your final invoice which must be paid two (2) weeks prior to your delivery date. You also have the option of picking up your orders if you prefer.
How do I reserve my date?
A 50% retainer is required to hold your date with all orders to be paid in full within two weeks of due/delivery date. All dates are considered open until the signed contract and retainer are received. If your cake is ordered less than two (2) weeks prior to the event date, the total amount is due immediately. Your order will not proceed until payment is received. Additional charges apply for RUSH orders placed within seven (7) days of due/delivery date. Retainer is non-refundable.
How Far in Advance Should I Order?
Three weeks in advance will do for celebration cakes, but we can book up to 4-6 months in advance during wedding season. To be safe, get in touch with us as soon as you know the date of your party.
What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept the following forms of payment: Cash, checks and Apple Pay. Personal checks are due 1 (one) month prior to delivery. Please note that a $35 insufficient funds fee will apply to any bounced checks.
Can I order if I have a nut allergy3?
Unfortunately, Petit Cali is NOT a nut free kitchen and do not offer special dietary cakes, such sugar free, egg free, dairy free, lactose free, or other special requests. We work on equipment shared by a variety of ingredients. Although our equipment is sanitized between each use, we assume no liability and offer no guarantees that any cake or sweets items will be 100% free from coming in contact with MILK, EGGS, WHEAT, SOYBEAN PRODUCTS, PEANUTS, TREE NUTS, or anything else that could cause an allergic reaction.
What About Color and Design
Color matching is not an exact science as such it is not 100% guaranteed. Different brands of gel colors are not all equal. Some have slight hue variations when combined with different brands of ingredients. I tell all my clients that I will do everything humanly possible to match the color hues in the reference photo they provide.
What about cake toppers and flowers?
Handmade sugar flowers are priced per stem and are based on complexity of the flower. Prices range from $10- $35 per stem.
Custom fondant cake toppers range from $25-$100 and are based on complexity and execution of design.
Why can't I order cali cake jars in a variety of flavors?
Cali cake jars are NOT made months in advance only to spend the rest of that time waiting in a freezer to be chosen. To ensure the quality of our product we do not have a surplus of frozen flavors on hand. As such cupcake are sold by the dozen, one flavor per doz.
