😇💕 Becoming an Icing Smiles "Sugar Angel"💕 😇

I had the great honor and pleasure of creating my first Icing Smiles cake this year for a beautiful little girl by the name of Alyssa.

If you are not familiar with Icing Smiles Foundation, they are the cake version of the “Make a Wish Foundation”. Icing Smiles is a wonderful organization with over 8,000 volunteers that are charged with bringing sweet smiles to children with critical illnesses.

I received my first call to action email for a birthday request in July. I could not have been more blessed to have been given the opportunity having read both the companies mission statement but also the backstory of my little candidate.

The theme and colors were the birthday girls choice. I must confess i had to research Sheriff Callie as I had never heard of the character before. The final design was approved by mom and all that was left was to execute. The vanilla and dark chocolate cake was frosted in buttercream and decorated with fondant accents. The handmade "Happy Birthday" banner completed the cake.

I was very happy withe the final outcome but started to freak a little to hear of the 110 forecast for the delivery date. Would it survive the trip or would it melt it to a heaping mess. Temperature soared to 110 but the cake was safely delivered and the birthday girl and parents were super happy with it.

Sometimes in your life you are asked to be apart of something great, to do for other and to be guiding grace for those in need. If you hear the call I hope you are able to answer it.
